From the directed storytelling, we mapped the mental models that represented how each research participant approached the problem of finding an appropriate wine tasting. We then were able to synthesize three general models based on the higher level intent of the user - how do I find a tasting in which I will be comfortable and learn about wines?
Brainstorming for Mental Model

|
We begin by brainstorming on the whiteboard what informational needs our persona would have at the novice stage.
|
 |
We then continued onto brainstorming about the knowledgeable phase. |
 |
And we also brainstormed about the hoster phase. |
 |
As we finalized the mental process of our user, we sketched out some models to find a clear way to represent the information |
Mental Model: Novice

|
Persona: Kathy - age 30
Transaction:
Kathy wants to try searching for a wine tasting of her own. She has an idea of what kind of wine tasting she would like to attend but doesn't know any offhand.
She uses Vino Contigo to search for a particular wine tasting.
site asks some questions --> gives her recommendation for tasting(s)
|
Mental Model: Knowledgeable

|
Persona: Kathy - age 32
Transaction:
something she finds intriguing (wine, tasting, hosting...)
wants to go to site to comment about it
sees someone's questions and answers it (from someone at the same tasting) |
Mental Model: Hoster

|
Persona: Kathy - age 35
Transaction:
picks a mood/theme
picks wines
uploads pics & enters info about wines |
